Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
